METEOROLOGICAL TOOLS: After the Texas flood, there has been lots of talk about weather predictions and warnings. The National Weather Service is doing a great job despite current limitations. But, this administration has significantly cut funding and drastically reduced staffing. One of the many important devices used in compiling a forecast is data collected from the radiosonde. Without adequate staffing, balloons that carry the radiosondes aloft cannot be launched when and where needed.
